A gilt copper and cold gilded repousse plaque depicting Chamunda

With her skeletal face and sunken cheeks and large third eye, Chamunda tramples on a corpse and places her left foot on a lotus base. A small inscription in Newari to the base of the figure Nepalese believe that the more repulsive a deity appears, the more effective he or she is as a protector.
