![]() Detail: back The unusually heavily cast image of the Sakyamuni Buddha, his face gently smiling, is seated on a double lotus throne,his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, the gesture of calling the earth to witness. The gilding on this image is thick and bright and in good condition, with small patches of wear. The Buddha has been riveted to the base, on which the deep petals extend all the way around the throne. |
