![]() Detail: reverse The Hindu goddess in heroic pose within a flaming nimbus steps to the left - her foot resting on her vehicle - the lion. She holds aloft a sword and a shield; her principal hands hold a kepala and in a mudra of blessing respectively. She wears a flowing skirt, a garland of severed heads, heavy pendant earrings and a five pointed crown. A lengthy inscription to the reverse (see detail) dates this figure to 1660. |
