A small Thangka painting

The fine painting depicting in a swirl of roiling dark flames and smoke, Palden Lamo (the protector of Tibet) riding her mule through a sea of blood while brandishing a danda (skull staff) and skull cup (kepala). The flayed skin of her son forms the deity’s saddle cloth, from which depend the dice. She is flanked on her right by Simahavaktra Dakini, and on her left by Makaravaktra Dakini who leads her mule by a snake tether. The images are blessed in red Tibetan script to the reverse.
