On an azure background strewn with golden auspicious symbols is Tzongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa school of Buddhism, flanked by his two disciples, Gyatshab and Khadub. Above him is the Buddha, and to the right, Maitreya, Buddha of the Future.

Below him are the protectors Yama, and Bhairava. A diminutive lama figure makes offerings to the lower right – a small gold umbilicus linking him and the 3 principal figures.
