8. A Nepalese painting
Nepal
Second half 19th Century
ink and pigment on card
Painting size: 8 ½” x 11 ¼”. (22 x 28.5 cm)

A Nepalese painting

The painting, depicting the meeting of two Royal Nepalese figures – on the left is possibly King Girvan Yuddhavikram Shah - a king noted for his mild manner and affable nature, who died at only 19 in 1816. As the prince to the right is dressed in the manner of the Ranas, the last ruling dynasty of Nepal – this painting may represent the meeting of these two dynasties.
