 Detail: close-up of a deity The Collar of four ferocious faces comprising two types of wrathful protector deities, is finely worked in the appliqué technique of stitching sections of metallic and brocade cloth painstakingly together in a painterly fashion. Such collars were used in the 'black hat' tsam or cham dances. See a simialr example in the collection of the Newark Museum. |
